We will celebrate Maundy Thursday with a Brown Bag (bring your own) dinner at the Zoch House. This will be followed by a short devotion and communion together.
On the Thursday after Jesus enters the Jerusalem he institutes the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper.
Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, "Take, eat; this is my body." And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, "Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
On this same night Jesus would once again show that he came to serve. He would bow down and wash the feet of his disciples. This is why we call it Maundy Thursday. From Merrium-Webster:
Middle English maunde, from Old French mandé, from Latin mandatum command, order; from the words spoken by Jesus to his disciples after washing their feet at the Last Supper.
