In this sermon series, we will explore what it truly means to be the Church of Jesus Christ—His body, called and gathered by the Gospel. Each week, we will delve into the biblical vision of the Church as not merely a human institution but as the living organism shaped by the death, resurrection, and ongoing presence of Christ. This series will remind us that the Church is not about what we do, but about who we are in Jesus, and how that identity transforms everything we do together as His people.
Sermon Topics:
The Church – What is the Church? It’s not a building or a club, but a community of sinners saved by grace through faith in Christ alone. We are the gathered people of God, brought together by the Word, called to live under the reign of Christ.
The Sending Church – Jesus commissioned His Church to go into the world with the message of the Gospel. But we don’t go in our own power or wisdom. We go as those sent by Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, to proclaim His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins.
The Praying Church – Prayer is not a means to manipulate God, but a response to His grace. As a Church, we are called to approach our Heavenly Father with boldness and trust, knowing that Jesus intercedes for us, and that His Word forms the foundation of our prayer life.
The Simple Church – The Church is often complicated by human ideas and traditions. But the Church, at its heart, is simple: it is the place where the Gospel is preached, the Sacraments are administered, and where Christ is present for His people. We return to simplicity, focusing on Christ and His Word.
The Relational Church – The Church is the place where the love of Christ is made visible in the relationships we share. As members of His body, we are called to care for one another, support each other in our struggles, and bear one another’s burdens—always rooted in the grace and forgiveness we have received in Christ.
The Gospel-Centered Church – Everything the Church does is rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s His life, death, and resurrection that define who we are and what we do as His people. As we gather in His name, we remember that He is the center of all things—our worship, our mission, and our fellowship are all centered on Him and His saving work.
This series will lead us to a deeper understanding of the Church as the body of Christ, reminding us that we are nothing apart from Him. As we listen to His Word, receive His gifts, and live as His people, we are equipped to carry His Gospel into the world.
