We all wrestle with the question of identity. Every day we’re surrounded by a world that dazzles us with beauty and distracts us with temptation. We see good and evil, joy and pain, light and shadow. In the middle of it all, we ask: Who am I? Where do I belong? The answers aren’t always clear when our hearts feel pulled in a hundred different directions.

Scripture tells a deeper truth—one that may seem like a paradox. In Christ, we are both sinner and saint. We carry the reality of our sin, our failures, and our weaknesses, yet at the very same time, we bear the righteousness of Jesus, given to us as a gift. This tension isn’t meant to confuse us, but to anchor us in grace. God’s declaration over us is not based on our perfection but on His promise.

So in the push and pull of life—when we are tempted to define ourselves by our mistakes or by the world’s applause—God speaks a better word. He calls us His children. He names us forgiven. He claims us as His own. Our identity isn’t built on what we have done or left undone, but on who He is and what He has done for us. That is the truth that steadies us as we walk as saints who still wrestle with sin, yet live under the covering of Christ’s unshakable love.
